At this time in your pregnancy, it's important to incorporate sources of magnesium into your diet because it plays an important role in many bodily functions like muscle and nerve function, blood sugar and blood pressure. You can do this with sources from whole foods, like green leafy vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds.
To help with your meal prep, we tapped holistic nutritionist and health coach, Kelly LeVeque of Be Well by Kelly, to share a magnesium-rich recipe you can easily add to your grocery list. The Strawberry Green Smoothie is from her celeb-loved Fab 4 Smoothie formula and is an easy way to check your nutrition boxes first thing in the morning with some sneaky greens and protein.
The Recipe: Strawberry Green Be Well Smoothie
- 1 Serving vanilla protein powder
- 1-2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1/4 cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
- 2-3 cups nut milk & water
- Handful of spinach
